Auto Card Manager (ACM) Review – November 2009
By Bernie Zeesman

This is a review of the 6-Card ACM Wallet from ACM Enterprises.

The ACM is a unique type of wallet or card holder that addresses a few common issues with wallets. Organization, Protection and Selection.

When the ACM arrived in my hands, I was so excited. As you can see below, the ACM is has a very tech / sleek look to it. For the tech geek in me, this was very appealing

test

I tested the 6-Card wallet. ACM also offers a 12-card wallet geared more to women.

So let’s start with organization. The ACM does help you organize. It actually makes you eliminate. Prior to trying the ACM, I carried the following cards:

Visa
Amex
ATM
Drivers License
OHIP
2 Gas loyalty cards
2 Grocery loyalty cards
Pharmacy loyalty card
Blood donor card
AirMiles
Tim Horton’s Card

That’s 13 cards. Eliminating 7 was not easy and already got me uncomfortable with the ACM wallet. I kept my Visa, Amex, ATM, Drivers, AirMiles and Tim Horton’s card.

It certainly does offer protection. It is made from a brushed aluminum that should withstand most normal wallet usage. Internally, the cards never touch each other as they each have their own unique slot with buttons on the front to slide each one out. While I certainly have heard of people’s cards getting demagnetized, it has never happened to me so I was not terribly concerned about that as an issue.

Selection is a very unique feature to the ACM wallet. As I mentioned, each slot has an associated button on the front to slide that specific card out. These slots are completely customizable. They supply a card with interchangeable icon pads which offer you a total of 18 icon pads.

test

There is money clip on the back of it. It is removable if you like but I did not try removing it.

test

The unit also comes with a picture card loaded in a slot. It must remain in that slot to be used. I had a hard enough time cutting down to 6 cards; 5 was out of the question. Sorry kids!
The ACM’s size is 4″ (10.3cm) tall x 2.6″ (6.6cm) wide x 1″ (2.6cm) thick with the money clip. It weighs 3.1 ounces (90g) with 6 cards installed.
Personally, I found it too bulky for my pant pocket despite claims to the opposite on their web site. I do think it can work well in a jacket but more likely in a purse for women. There is a vinyl pouch included, which can help protect the wallet in a purse or jacket.

Final Review: Well-built, well thought out product. I would not recommend it to anyone who wants to keep their wallet in their pocket or to anyone who cannot live without their large selection of cards. Personally, I’ll stick to my ALL-ETT ‘World’s Thinnest Wallet. It holds all my cards and fits invisibly in my back pocket.
test
For those who want to simplify to 6 cards or perhaps use the 12-card ACM, I can certainly see the value in this wallet. You also get the additional bonus of having people ask about it every time you pull it out!

Price: $39.95. Available from ACM Wallet.
